Why are there ads on FlockSmart?

While we've taken every precaution to keep FlockSmart running on as low an overhead as possible, there are still costs associated with hosting and maintaining the site. Our first priority is to create a friendly and fun environment for the community at large. However, we also need to pay the bills

As a result, we are working with a couple of small ad-serving sites to defray our costs through advertising. Whenever possible, we personally approve each ad that runs on this site. In addition, we are sticking solely to text-based ads to keep your browsing experience as enjoyable as possible and avoid the flashing animated banners plastered on most other sites. You will never see a popup ad on FlockSmart - we abhor them!

If you would like to advertise with FlockSmart, you can do so through MarketBanker.com. I believe you'll find our rates to be reasonable. Since going live on July 5, 2003, we have served an average of about 260,000 pages per month, and we intend to continue building features on to the site to keep that number rising.

As mentioned, we approve every ad posted to our site when possible. At this time, we will not accept ads for any adult-themed products or websites, anything related to illicit or illegal drugs or anything that we, in our own discretion, consider inappropriate for our audience, which includes men and women from ages 14 to 75 and beyond.

Your ad can show up on any of our pages at any time during its run. Future plans include targeting based on geographic area and interest.
